The Dingle Way was a fabulous hike. My only recommendations would be to have accommodations within SAFE walking distance of Dingle Town and make a few changes to the hike. I believe it was the 2nd day hike, one of the longest, where we walked a lot on the road. While it wasn't terrible, and I still enjoyed my time, I would have preferred more time on an actual trail.

We reached out with questions several times and received timely, helpful information each time.

Trip Comments

Right off the bat, we got stuck at the train station in Dublin unable to make our way to Belfast due to the weather. We reached out for help and our guide Denis, who was driving to Belfast, graciously turned around and picked us up. We enjoyed our accommodations and the restaurants were well chosen, especially Harry’s Shack. The hikes were all enjoyable. They were a nice mixture of environments and level of challenge. That being said, we suggest changing the order of the first three days. We believe the hikes on the second and third days should be swapped. The Tollymore Forest Park hike would be a better warm up for the Slieve Donard hike than the other way around. Our guide Denis was delightful, highly competent and provided us with a wealth of knowledge on a wide range of topics related to our trip and beyond. He also gave us ideas for our stay in Belfast after the trip had concluded that were much appreciated.

Accommodation & Food

The quality of the food we ate was good to excellent. The challenge we had was moderation. We do not ordinarily eat three formal meals per day. We were encouraged to eat heartily because we had paid for it. While appreciated, we overindulged more than we would have preferred. We realize this may be unusual feedback. We are smallish women and just don’t eat that much ordinarily, especially including dessert after the meal. Wondering if there could be a cost adjustment somehow.

Your Guide

Denis, you over delivered from the start. Thank you! We so appreciated getting picked up at the rail station in Dublin when our train was cancelled due to the weather. Our conversations that day set the tone for a wonderful week. We appreciate how you took care of our fellow traveler when he needed help and trusted us to take care of ourselves on the way back down the mountain. You demonstrated a depth of knowledge on many topics - hiking, history, current events, to name a few. In addition, you provided us with helpful information that will inform our planning for future trips. We appreciate you gentle wisdom and generosity of spirit. On the whole, our trip was satisfying to the mind, body and soul. A+

The Bottom Line

This was our second trip with Wilderness Ireland and, just like the first, it did not disappoint. Walking on the land while hearing the stories of the land makes for an incomparable experience. We highly recommend Wilderness Ireland without reservation.

Final verdict would be that it was great and I would do it again in a heartbeat. The trip was well thought out and execution was flawless.
